Surrounding Area

Smallfield Place is located just outside the village of Smallfield in Surrey. It is about five miles to the south of Reigate and the North Downs and about 45 minutes drive or train ride down to the South Downs, Brighton and the south coast. Both of these areas offer some excellent opportunities for country walks and pub lunches.

Due to its proximity to Gatwick and Horley railway stations it is also ideally located for visiting London, as it takes around half an hour to get to the centre of the city from either station.

Other local attractions include:

  • Country houses and gardens such as Wakehurst Place, Chartwell (the former home of Sir Winston Churchill), Nymans Gardens and Hever Castle (the childhood home of Anne Boleyn);
  • The all weather racecourse at Lingfield
  • The historic Bluebell Railway

There are also golf, horse riding, quad biking, off road driving, paint balling, clay pigeon shooting and spa treatments available at a number of nearby locations a very short journey away from the house. We can help you arrange any of these if you let us know what you would like to do and when.

In short there is plenty to do in the daytime – or you can just stay in and relax.
